Fire's and Friendship

Yes, it was that time again. Tuesday night Dinner at the Sopenskis. Lovely time that is. You make your way in later after most of the food has been devoured by the hungry workers (its sorta like missing rush hour.) You slid down next to a person you have only said "Hi" to once before. Soon the two of you are at it with conversation. It all is flowing wonderfuly.

But then a newcomer jumps into the picture and your all running around saying hello and introducing people to people. Well its just one caotic scene. The groups of people mix and mingle about.

You laugh at the silly antics of your friend trying to stun everyone with a feat. Then your somberly drawn back into a deep conversation with your best friend and her life problems. But somwere deep, past the fun, the joy and all the feelings that are running about inside. You hear a small still voice saying "I am here in the midst of you." you snuggle deeper into your chair and draw closer to the fire. Enjoying even more the fellowship your having with your fellow friends and with Jesus, who is right there beside you that entirety.

Suddenly a voice calls out "Desert" and its a stampede to the picnic tables lined up and strewn with forks and spoons. You dish yourself out some icecream and pie. Find a group of people to stand by and soon your all happily chatting over icecream and your favorite Superheros.

Darkness is slowly creeping in on the joyfilled crowd and lights and candles begin to burn about you. The laughter is slowing and not so loud. This is the deep of night, tired and weary we are all slowing. Your still wraped close in the warmth of the fire and friendship. Sighing you smile at your neighbor sitting close to you. The chatter has ceased for a few seconds. Everyone just looking into the embers of the fire. Then the chatter is bubling and laughter is coming back.

Enjoying the fun and the friendship (and your smore) and the pure comfort. Then a car pulls up, or you notice the time. Your draged away from the fire to a nice warm bed.

As you lay there letting sleep over come you as you laugh at the memories of the night. You slowly let your eyes close and you hear that voice one more time.

"I'am here."
